Top Ten Scenes of the West Lake-Twin Peak Piercing the Clouds

Twin peak, namely south peak and north peak, are respectively situated at the southwest and northwest of the West Lake. The two peaks stand facing each other remotely and stretch over ten miles between them. The south peak, adjoining the West Lake and is 257 meters high. The north peak with an altitude of 314 meters is a directing mountain of Lingyin Temple. As to the scene of twin peak piercing the clouds, later on, someone is of the opinion after observation that: this scene was originally the one looking into the distance in the lake, at the beginning of Qing Dynasty, it was moved to the land in order to erect a monument. When the mountains are shrouded by clouds and mists, the points of the two peaks emerge, just like peaks sticking into the clouds. The peaks are steep and majestic and change in different weather and time, especially at the time after rain or overcast or cloudy day. The Iridescent clouds and white clouds are either thick or light, either winding or concealing the mountains. It is hard to tell where the cloud is and where the mountain is because everywhere is misty, which is really like that a magnificent landscape painting of proper shading with dripping ink and wash reveals before us.
