New Top Ten Scenes of the West Lake-Dreaming of the Tiger Running Spring at Hupao Valley
The Tiger Running Spring located at the foot of Daci Mountain is the top one among the numerous springs of the West Lake. The name of Tiger Running Spring is originated from the Buddhism myth “there is Tongzi Spring in Nanyue, and two tigers should be sent to move that spring here”. It is said that Xingkong, an eminent monk in Tang Dynasty, ever lived the Valley of Daci Mountain where the Tiger Running Spring is. Seeing the beautiful scene here, he attempted to build a temple here but suffers from lack of water. One day, he dreamed of tigers digging the ground and clear spring welling up. The next day, when he woke up, he found that there was indeed a spring. Thus, this spring is named as “Tiger Running Spring”.
